Hair Extension Specialist - Brazilian Blowout - Hair Extensions Accessories

Hello! I'm Michelle Mascari.
I have been a salon professional for over 39 years and I have been trained and certified by several hair extension companies.

Since I have worked with several hair extension METHODS of application, including HAIRTALK® HAIRLOCS®, DREAMCATCHERS®, GREAT LENGTHS®, and HOTHEADS®, I have extensive expertise and insight into which methods I consider to be the very best in the field.

My hair extensions service for you starts with choosing the very best supplier of PREMIUM grade hair. My current source and supplier operate their own research laboratory with full quality control from beginning to end, testing the strength, elasticity and moisture level of the hair.

It is European-grade Indian Remy hair.
Remy Human Hair is the highest grade of real, human hair that is a preferred choice for hair extensions, hairpieces and wigs because it achieves the most natural look.
Remy Hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-Remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and completely tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

After choosing the hair itself, what are the best methods of attachment?

After considering today's available options (and there are several), and because my desire is to use only the very best for my personal clients, I have chosen the following 2 methods of application:

A premium iTip extension method and a premium Tape-in extension method.

I will explain both methods below:

1. The premium iTip (with a copper lock) extension method:
This is the mostly costly method out there (2 1/2 to 4 times more costly than the Tape-in method)
It is labor intensive.

For this method, you will need to pay 50% up front (used to order your custom hair)
Your hair will be applied, cut and styled that day.

How much is maintenance?
You are charged on an hourly basis and it takes 4-6 hours depending on how much hair is applied AND how well the hair is maintained at home. (50% deposit is put up front, the balance is paid prior to application, and it is applied, cut, and styled THAT day.
You come in every 8 weeks for maintenance. If the hair is maintained at home as instructed, you should be able to use that hair for up to a year.

Every 8 weeks you will need to come in for maintenance. This is because your hair (on average) grows 1/2 an inch a month and when it gets an inch away from your scalp, you will need to move and reapply your extensions closer to the roots.
You can use the same extensions for up to a year -IF you care for your hair at home properly as directed.

So in order to determine how often you need to come in for maintenance, you need to answer this question:
How fast does YOUR hair grow?

Remember that ON AVERAGE, hair grows 1/2 an inch a month. If that's true for YOU, then you'll need maintenance in 6-8 weeks. This is true for ANY method of hair extensions application you choose.
Just like some people need to color their hair more frequently than others because their roots grow out faster.

How important is the maintenance of your new hair extensions?
Hair is always stronger near the roots. But hair sheds. We all loose from 100 to 150 strands a day. Considering this natural shedding that we all experience, you want to be sure that your extensions are being supported by an adequate amount of root hair, so as not to tax your own hair. As your extensions grow out and if hair is not maintained, the hair can twist, compromising your own hair (something you never want to do). So be sure to come in for proper maintenance.
If you are not sure if it's time, just stop by for a quick visit and I'll be happy to take a look at your extensions. (no charge)

2. The Tape-in method. - the HAIRTALK® Hair Extensions -
These are my personal favorite.
It is a very efficient way of applying hair extensions.

These are Tape-in hair extensions that are applied without special tools, or heat.
The tape is a surgical tape and no metal is applied to your head like the copper tips used in the iTip method.
This can be an advantage to you if you need surgery or an MRI, your extensions would not need to be removed prior to a procedure.

Maintenance is the same as in the iTip method. In both cases it depends on how slow or fast your hair grows. When your roots have grown an inch, it's time to move and reapply your extensions closer to the roots. (all extensions are applied 1/8 inch from the scalp.)

How are they removed?
With a special solution that dissolves the surgical tape without compromising the integrity of your own hair. Fresh tape is then applied and your extensions are reused.

How long can I use the same extensions?
Proper home maintenance as directed will determine how many times you can reuse your extensions. Usually up to 3 times or the better part of a year.
Another advantage over the iTip method is that it is the most non-damaging to your own hair. They are available in straight or wavy, a slight body-wave.

How long does it take for maintenance visits?
For the tape-in method about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Advantages of the tape-in:
1. more cost effective
2. less time in the chair (speediness of the application)
3. less maintenance time, it's as frequent as the iTip method but instead of a half day in the chair and being charged by the hour for that, you are in the chair for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how many extensions you need to reapply.

At your personal consultation, we can discuss your own lifestyle preferences and the end result you are expecting. (set your own personal consultation here)

There is a third option for those who just want length:
Halo Couture - this is a hair accessory piece that is not permanently attached to your head, but it is an easy and beautiful way to add length.
Read more about Halo Couture and watch the video here.

The advantage of the HAIRTALK TAPE-IN method is that it is a much quicker application, giving you an amazing look with high quality hair. This hair is reusable for multiple wearings on average 8 months or longer, IF they are properly maintained.

And, they are cost effective!

Also, remember that proper maintenance is important so your hair is not taxed at the roots. You never want them twisting or coming too far away from the scalp so that they don't lay flush to your scalp. You want to keep them 1/8 inch from the root of the hair.
